Happy Couple Enjoys an Elopement Wedding at my Texas Bed and Breakfast

June 22nd, 2012

As an ordained minister, it was my honor and pleasure to recently marry another wonderful couple here at my Texas Lehmann Legacy Ranch.  Clinton and Aurora were guests at the Enchanted Cabin and chose to be married at the gazebo by Enchanted Lake.

From the bride:  “Thank you for all the attention you paid us as we decided to elope.  The Enchanted Cabin was wonderful and the wedding was more than we expected.  We will be back!”

There are so many choices for your perfect getaway wedding or elopement here at Blisswood bed and breakfast:

  • At Enchanted Lake, most ceremonies are performed in the gazebo.  We have had horse-drawn carriages bring the bride to our charming arched bridges, a groom and his groomsmen have arrived via rowboat across the lake, and one couple even departed via hot-air balloon from their lakeside wedding!
  • The gorgeous old trees make a perfect natural setting under which to take your vows.  Our Live Oaks branch out into umbrella-like canopies, shading and protecting your union and small reception.
  • The Garden Gazebo in our Formal Garden provides an intimate setting.  With lanterns hung in trees, fairy lights draped about, and one or two wedding tents, this gorgeous wedding site can easily transition right into your reception location.
  • Have an informal Oasis wedding.  The rock-wall waterfall, gorgeous greenery, blooming orchids and other flowers, and swimming pool provide the perfect backdrop to your small tropical wedding, and might provide a literal way to “take the plunge!”

Great Wedding Photography Ideas:

  • Plan your wedding when our Texas Bluebonnets are in season to take advantage of great photography opportunities.
  • Live Oaks provide a gorgeous place to recline with your new spouse, and provide a natural lace-sunlight effect.
  • Photos at the Oasis may make people think you actually went to the South Pacific for your wedding!
  • Our windmills and water tank are charming accessories for your ranch backdrop.
  • We have some SPECTACULAR sunrises and sunsets here at the ranch.  Sunrises are often accompanied by fog lifting from the ranch and wildlife out for the morning meal.  Sunsets provide amazing colors and lighting.
  • Many of our cabins and buildings have beautiful interiors, porch swings, and antiques for an Americana setting.

If you choose to elope, I am happy to marry you at any location here at my Hill Country Ranch.  Or you can plan your own ceremony, whether small or large, using your own choice for clergy and location.  I will be happy to help you pin down the details for your perfect day!

Say ‘Happy Anniversary’ at BlissWood

June 19th, 2012

Anniversaries are an affair to remember at BlissWood, our Bed and Breakfast Inn and event destination in the Texas Hill Country, an hour west of Houston.

Couples of all ages come to BlissWood Bed and Breakfast at Lehmann Legacy Ranch to relax, unwind, rekindle the romance – perhaps even renew their vows — in the peaceful surroundings of our rooms and guesthouses, located on a 650-acre working ranch in Cat Spring, Texas.

Some couples like to leave the planning to us and splurge on BlissWood’s anniversary package ($159, plus the price of lodging). Consider it a second honeymoon. The package includes fresh flowers; a bottle of champagne (plus keepsake glasses); cheese and crackers; chocolate-dipped strawberries; and a catered picnic in our Gazebo at Enchanted Lake.

BlissWood guests celebrating wedding anniversaries can schedule a photo shoot with our official photographer, Skeeter Hagler.

For an additional $75, this couple who celebrated their anniversary at our guest ranch made lasting anniversary memories by scheduling a photo shoot with Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Skeeter Hagler, BlissWood’s official photographer.

They enjoyed a relaxing anniversary and weekend in Texas Hill Country and took the time to post a review of BlissWood Bed and Breakfast on Bedandbreakfast.com:

“What a special place…and just an hour outside of Houston! If you like spending time outside, you will love this place. We celebrated our anniversary here and couldn’t have asked for a better place to do so. It was very quiet, quaint, and peaceful.

“Just roaming around the ranch was wonderful, but the highlights of our trip were dinner at Carol’s Restaurant, the morning horseback ride and the unbelievable photo shoot with Skeeter (Hagler). …The staff was helpful and engaging and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed great conversation with both Carol and Skeeter. What a special group of people they are. We just can’t wait to go back!’’

We look forward to welcoming  couples celebrating anniversaries and other life milestones and special occasions to our bed and breakfast inn. Let us help YOU plan a special Hill Country getaway. Visit our website or give us a call at 713-301-3235.

Plan a Surprise Bed and Breakfast Getaway to Lehmann Ranch

June 11th, 2012

No matter what your age, there is nothing more thrilling than having someone else take the reins and plan a surprise weekend just for you.  Now imagine that the surprise destination is a cozy room or bungalow at a gorgeous ranch in Texas Hill Country!  This is exactly what happened with my recent guests here at BlissWood!

This particular birthday surprise was planned by the wife and mother of a young family for her husband.  She planned the trip, packed for everyone, and drove her husband and young son in for a great weekend getaway.  Her husband likes a rustic atmosphere, so our Log Cabin was the perfect place for their time away from home for peace, tranquility, and great food from Carol’s at Cat Spring restaurant.  Of course, I personally think that their son had the best time of anyone:  he took horseback riding lessons, enjoyed climbing trees, and loved seeing the animals – especially the peacock!  But what better present could a person ask for than a perfect weekend and the joy of their child’s delight?

Even better, I foster and help rescue border collies through All Border Collie Rescue.  The couple’s son happened to fall in love with one of my current rescues while here, and I now have the perfect home and loving family for a beautiful animal.  So the husband isn’t the only one who received a great present that weekend – I did too!

With BlissWood’s beauty, magic, lodging options from communal to remote, on-site and area activities, and great food, you too can plan the perfect getaway for that perfect someone – or for yourself!  A visit to BlissWood guest ranch near Houston is the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or any occasion!

Texas Hill Country: Perfect location to plan your Engagement

May 28th, 2012

Maybe it’s the scenery.  Maybe it’s the seclusion.  Maybe our Ranch is romantically inspirational.  But no matter the reason, potential grooms truly do love to propose at our Texas Hill Country bed and breakfast.  And we are pleased to announce that another happy couple is now on their way to wedded bliss after their weekend at BlissWood!

While the couple went to the same high school, they were in different classes and did not meet until 6 years ago.  We’re not sure how long they’ve actually been seeing each other, but the groom-to-be took action by designing a ring featuring the bride-to-be’s birthstone, peridot, surrounded by stones from his grandmother’s ring in preparation.  During a visit to the Gazebo at Enchanted Lake this weekend, the proposal was made and accepted!  The couple celebrated with a dinner at Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant, followed by a night at the inn and a romantic horseback ride the following morning.

All of us at the Blisswood bed and breakfast are thrilled to have been a part of yet another couple’s start to wedded bliss.  Of course, we don’t know why any couple wouldn’t take advantage of the 650 acres of gorgeous, potential proposal locations on the Lehmann Legacy Ranch!  So take advantage of a romantic weekend package getaway to our Houston area inn, and take that next step to a lifetime of happiness!

Weddings at the BlissWood Inn

May 24th, 2012

The BlissWood Bed and Breakfast at Lehmann Ranch is known for its quiet, country charm.  Many people believe that this is the perfect environment for romance, and even weddings.  I am happy to report that our Texas bed and breakfast was recently witness to another wonderfully beautiful and romantic wedding ceremony!

A little bit of parental matchmaking magic started this couple on their way to a beautiful BlissWood wedding.  Having met the groom at church, the bride’s father decided to introduce his daughter to this charming fellow.  The couple fell in love, and became husband and wife at a very intimate Ranch ceremony with just two others in attendance.  For this couple, the serenity and ambiance provided at BlissWood was the perfect backdrop for their big day, and I am happy and honored to have been able to make their nuptials perfect.

You too can have the perfect wedding day at my Lehmann Legacy Ranch.  Whether it’s just the two of you, or if you’ve invited guests, the BlissWood can accommodate weddings of all sizes:  packages are available for intimate weddings up to 50 guests, or contact me to plan a larger event.    The 650-acre ranch offers a variety of wedding settings to make your day perfect.  Choose the Gazebo at Enchanted lake, celebrate under one of the gorgeous and sprawling old oak trees, choose to have a garden ceremony, let the waterfalls at the Oasis provide natural music during your vow-taking, choose your own perfect spot anywhere on the property during a daytrip visit.

While our newly-wedded couple did not become engaged here at BlissWood, many believe that the Ranch provides the perfect place to “pop the question.”  Treat your sweetheart to a BlissWood getaway to plan the perfect proposal.  Stroll the grounds and let the oaks witness the event, have a proposal picnic among the Blue Bonnets, or choose one of our Proposal Packages to set the scene perfectly.

Rehearsal dinners, bachelor and bachelorette party getaways, and receptions can also be accommodated right here on the property.  If you’ve chosen another wedding venue, you can come to Blisswood for a wide variety of off-site engagement and wedding photo settings.  Romance is welcome at BlissWood in any way we can help!  Check out the rest of the BlissWood website for more wedding and celebration ideas.

At BlissWood, good things come to those who bait

May 22nd, 2012

Most visitors come to BlissWood, our vacation ranch and bed and breakfast inn in Cat Spring, Texas, for a weekend (or more!) of trail riding. We are, after all, a 650-acre working ranch.

But BlissWood, our property an hour west of Houston in Texas Hill Country, also boasts several pristine lakes stocked with bass. We encourage guests to take the bait and go fishing. It’s a great way for city slickers of all ages to forget the hustle and bustle and connect with nature.

While some people fish for sport — or for supper — others fish as a way to simply relax and unwind. Fishing at BlissWood promotes peace and quiet and serenity of the mind and is calming to the nerves. Leave your cell phone behind or put it on “silence.”

Both experienced and novice anglers are invited to take advantage of BlissWood’s catch-and-release bass fishing option. If you bring your own gear, the cost is $29 per person. If you would like to use our gear, the cost is $49 per person.

Our catch and release policy is of benefit to both the fish and our guests. The fish are released back to their own environment, giving other visitors to BlissWood a chance to catch the same fish again.

So go ahead. Post a note on your guest house or cabin door that reads: Gone Fishin.’ Catch You Later.

Bass fishing is one of many relaxing activities here at BlissWood. To learn more, give us a call at 713-301-3235.
