Thumbs up for a relaxing weekend in rustic surroundings

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Imagine spending a relaxing weekend in a log cabin in the middle of a working ranch in Texas Hill Country. A Log Cabin with rustic flavor, antiques and a few of the comforts we take for granted nowadays — like electricity, heat and air conditioning.

Two recent guests at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast, a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary, selected our Log Cabin lodging option when they stayed with us earlier this summer.

They loved their time here and posted a complimentary (thank you!) review online. This is what they had to say:

“My husband and I spend a weekend at a different bed and breakfast each year for our wedding anniversary. This year we picked BlissWood in Cat Spring, Texas. We are quite fond of antiques and rustic decor so we picked the Log Cabin. (will include link to check dates/availability) We were not disappointed.

“The cabin was well built. The furniture and appliances were quite neat to use. The gas stove was made by Firestone and the General Electric refrigerator had the coils on top. Oh yes, there was electricity and air conditioning so it wasn’t too rustic!

“We had a wonderful dinner at Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant. The ribeye was large and juicy, potatoes were the best we’ve had, and we even had some complementary watermelon granita, which was very refreshing!

“We do recommend renting a golf cart to explore the 500+ acre land, which is full of photo opportunities.’’

A relaxing getaway and a taste of a simpler life and times is here for EVERYONE to enjoy at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast. Give us a call at 713-301-3235 to discuss options and start making plans.

Anniversaries are an affair to remember at BlissWood, our Bed and Breakfast Inn and event destination in the Texas Hill Country, an hour west of Houston.

Couples of all ages come to BlissWood Bed and Breakfast at Lehmann Legacy Ranch to relax, unwind, rekindle the romance – perhaps even renew their vows — in the peaceful surroundings of our rooms and guesthouses, located on a 650-acre working ranch in Cat Spring, Texas.

Some couples like to leave the planning to us and splurge on BlissWood’s anniversary package ($159, plus the price of lodging). Consider it a second honeymoon. The package includes fresh flowers; a bottle of champagne (plus keepsake glasses); cheese and crackers; chocolate-dipped strawberries; and a catered picnic in our Gazebo at Enchanted Lake.

BlissWood guests celebrating wedding anniversaries can schedule a photo shoot with our official photographer, Skeeter Hagler.

For an additional $75, this couple who celebrated their anniversary at our guest ranch made lasting anniversary memories by scheduling a photo shoot with Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Skeeter Hagler, BlissWood’s official photographer.

They enjoyed a relaxing anniversary and weekend in Texas Hill Country and took the time to post a review of BlissWood Bed and Breakfast on

“What a special place…and just an hour outside of Houston! If you like spending time outside, you will love this place. We celebrated our anniversary here and couldn’t have asked for a better place to do so. It was very quiet, quaint, and peaceful.

“Just roaming around the ranch was wonderful, but the highlights of our trip were dinner at Carol’s Restaurant, the morning horseback ride and the unbelievable photo shoot with Skeeter (Hagler). …The staff was helpful and engaging and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed great conversation with both Carol and Skeeter. What a special group of people they are. We just can’t wait to go back!’’

We look forward to welcoming  couples celebrating anniversaries and other life milestones and special occasions to our bed and breakfast inn. Let us help YOU plan a special Hill Country getaway. Visit our website or give us a call at 713-301-3235.

Photo of Our Texas Guest Ranch

We received the following message from a guest who visited our Texas guest ranch just before the end of last year, and we thought we’d share it with you today.

Hello Carol,

We enjoyed your place so much, and have been bragging about our stay ever since. We took some wonderful pictures and one in particular I want to have one of my sisters paint. It is a beautiful sunset with the windmill in the forefront and I have taken the liberty of attaching it in this email.

You and your staff are wonderful and we felt welcome and comfortable in such cared for surroundings.

Once again, thank you for creating such a magical place and I hope we can visit you again in the future.

All the best for the New Year!

Thank you so much to this guest for taking the time to write this email and for the gorgeous photo. It’s always great to hear back from a guest about their experiences at our Texas guest ranch.

Another Great Review on TripAdvisor!

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a delightful couple who were celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary here at BlissWood B&B.

Yolanda and her husband were searching for an unique escape to commemorate the time they’ve spent together.

And we’re glad they were able to find what they were looking for at Lehmann Legacy Ranch in Cat Spring, Texas.

Here’s the review Yolanda wrote on TripAdvisor:

“My husband & I wanted to do something out of the norm to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. We wanted a peaceful get away yet with some thrill to commemorate the occasion. We googled horse-back riding and were drawn to Blisswood B&B. It was everything the website described it to be! The morning of the horse ride, I chickened out after a brief lesson on the horse. My husband (macho man) didn’t have that option. Therefore, Skeeter (the photographer) invited me to ride with him on the golf cart and it was such a pleasure. Skeeter was a comfort and shared some of the ranch’s history as well as how he became acquainted. I was most intrigued after being in arm’s length of the livestock; I’m used to being on the other side of the fence! “Nice pictures though”… Thanks Skeeter! The other nice part about our stay was the weather. It was cool & breezy; the sound of the wind gust brushing through the trees was amazing. We sat outside near a waterfall, read for a while and evaluated our marriage. The mood was just right. We later retreated to Harriet’s House at the Oasis where we later woke up to breakfast with a nice note in the frig. I’m grateful to have found such a gem nestled up in the open fields of Cat Spring, TX.”

Thank you to Yolanda for taking the time to write about her experience at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast.

We hope to make every guest’s stay unforgettable. If you have a story you’d like to share about your time at BlissWood, please take a moment to write something about it on our TripAdvisor page. We’d love to hear from you!
