Thumbs up for a relaxing weekend in rustic surroundings

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Imagine spending a relaxing weekend in a log cabin in the middle of a working ranch in Texas Hill Country. A Log Cabin with rustic flavor, antiques and a few of the comforts we take for granted nowadays — like electricity, heat and air conditioning.

Two recent guests at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast, a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary, selected our Log Cabin lodging option when they stayed with us earlier this summer.

They loved their time here and posted a complimentary (thank you!) review online. This is what they had to say:

“My husband and I spend a weekend at a different bed and breakfast each year for our wedding anniversary. This year we picked BlissWood in Cat Spring, Texas. We are quite fond of antiques and rustic decor so we picked the Log Cabin. (will include link to check dates/availability) We were not disappointed.

“The cabin was well built. The furniture and appliances were quite neat to use. The gas stove was made by Firestone and the General Electric refrigerator had the coils on top. Oh yes, there was electricity and air conditioning so it wasn’t too rustic!

“We had a wonderful dinner at Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant. The ribeye was large and juicy, potatoes were the best we’ve had, and we even had some complementary watermelon granita, which was very refreshing!

“We do recommend renting a golf cart to explore the 500+ acre land, which is full of photo opportunities.’’

A relaxing getaway and a taste of a simpler life and times is here for EVERYONE to enjoy at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast. Give us a call at 713-301-3235 to discuss options and start making plans.

The Crotty Family Spends Labor Day at Texas Guest Ranch

Monday, October 19th, 2009

One of the things we like best about running a guest ranch near Houston is that we help create memorable experiences for the folks who stay here. Take the Crotty family, who have been coming to our bed and breakfast ranch for the past four years. Each trip they try something new: a different house, a new experience. This last trip, over Labor Day Weekend, they took the feeding tour – something their seven year old son found delightful. Read their own words:

“We have been going to Blisswood for the past four years, and will continue for years to come. Our son was 3 when we first went there and he still calls it ‘our ranch’. We usually take one or more of our dogs, who all love the new smells and fresh country air. It is a place for us to slow down and reconnect as a family. Being only a little over an hour outside of Houston, it is a world away from the bustle and rush of city living. The new staff are wonderful, too. And if you haven’t eaten at Carol’s restaurant, you are missing a great meal. ”

Pictured below is their son feeding Me-Me the fallow deer and Willie the Camel.
