These new expanded hours are a great incentive to start your weekend away a little early. Leave on Thursday after work and start your mini-holiday with some tasty down home cooking at Carol’s. Or put in a few hours of work on Friday morning and leave in time for lunch at our casual fine dining restaurant – just an hour outside of Houston. It’s the perfect way to begin a weekend getaway at our Houston area Guest Ranch.

Our Cat Spring, Texas, restaurant serves delicious plates such as Seared Beef with Jalapeno Grits and Maple Vinaigrette. We also have a deep wine cellar featuring outstanding wines from around the country and the world; we’re especially proud to offer several excellent wines from Texas.

Mustang Alley Antiques is close to our guest ranch

Mustang Alley Antiques is located in an old general store between Sealy and Bellville. If you happen to be looking for cowhide this is THE place to go, but it also has other interesting items. Check out the fine collection of antique oak and walnut furniture, or look for something downright silly. This is a shopping experience that will put you in a good mood.

Instead of returning to whence you came right after shopping, why not spend a night or two at our Houston area guest ranch? Take time to treat yourself to an afternoon of horseback riding. Bring your knitting and finish that project while relaxing on the porch of your cabin. Forget about cooking for a change and enjoy a delicious meal at our Cat Spring restaurant – grilled bison and sweet potato fries anyone?

After all, you deserve a holiday, too.

Stop in for an excellent meal

It takes less than an hour to drive here from Houston, and boy, is it worth it. Once here, you will find yourself in another world – peaceful and restorative. Yet you don’t need to suffer the fate of some travelers to remote parts of this great land. Here, at our Central Texas bed and breakfast, you will find top-notch accommodations and fine dining.

John Mariani, writing for Esquire, visited our Houston area guest ranch and was delighted by what he found here. To quote him, “if you want a true Last Picture Show sense of a Texas where you can have eggs and bacon in a gazebo as the mist rises off the lake,” you’ll find it here. While you enjoy a romantic getaway in your own cabin, you may stroll down the road to our comfortable restaurant.

Wine lovers should not miss the upcoming special Wine Dinner, on September 30, 2009, at 7 pm. We’ll be celebrating the Texas Department of Agriculture Restaurant Roundup, showcasing the wines of Fall Creek Vineyards. Susan and Ed Auler, who own Fall Creek Vineyards, will be the guests of honor, and the meal will be designed to highlight their wines. Come just for the meal if you live in the area, or make a holiday of it and stay for a night or two in one of our romantic cabins. Reservations recommended.
