A unique company deserves a unique corporate retreat, especially when they’re bringing together employees from all over the world. And that’s exactly what this international corporation got when they decided to host their gathering at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast.

Employees from Canada, Australia, France, and Houston journeyed to our 650-acre Cat Spring haven for three days of cooking, wine tasting, trapshooting, archery, tomahawk throwing, horseback riding, and more. And they did it all while competing on teams. Not a bad way to enjoy a corporate retreat.

Workaway International is a US-based recruiting company that provides young people with the opportunity to live and work in the US for six months at a world class resort.

Participants in the program gain international work experience while improving their work skills and marketability. Plus, they get a lot of opportunities to have fun and make new friends.

As their summer came to a close, we wanted to send the girls off with a distinctly Texan experience. So we saddled up the horses and treated them to a memorable horseback ride through Lehmann Legacy Ranch.

Have no fear. Learning to ride a horse for the first time is a fun and exciting adventure, and nothing can compare to sense of power you’ll feel sitting atop our beautiful horses as you explore the breathtaking surroundings.

Carol and her staff have years of experience teaching horseback riding and training horses.

We offer horseback riding lessons for adults and children. Adult lessons: $50 per half-hour. Child lessons: $25 per half-hour.

Blisswood had so much to offer to help us relax and reconnect. I loved not having a TV and no other distractions because we were fully able to enjoy each other’s company. I highly recommend purchasing the picnic lunch at the Enchanted Lake! It was a most peaceful, relaxing, and delicious lunch, and it included a bottle of wine we thoroughly enjoyed. We brought our bikes with us and enjoyed riding all around the ranch, where I got some great photos! We also purchased a couples massage where they came to our cabin, it was amazing! Carol prides herself in giving her guests a great experience and her manager Debbie is so accommodating. Carol also has several exotic animals that you can help feed which was really cool! I even got to pet her kangaroo! We are planning to go back with our kids in the spring when the bluebonnets are in bloom. Both of these are big jobs. Our ranch is spread over 650-acres, and our B&B consists of ten turn-of-the-century homes. In addition, we offer many activities on the ranch for our guests, be it horseback riding, archery, fishing, or romantic picnics at the lake gazebo. Guests may choose to do nothing more than relax on the porch of their vacation cabin, or they may fill their time here with a host of activities. Debby and Ralph will help all happen smoothly.

Cold weather can be invigorating if you embrace it. Explore our 650-acre ranch by horseback, riding across open fields and protected oak woodlands. Not a Usual Sight--Frost!

Texas weather is so varied that one day we are wearing shorts, the next day warm jackets.  They say if you are not satisfied with the Texas weather, wait an hour and it will change.  Thus it was at our Texas Guest Ranch this weekend, when Frosty visited us.  It quickly disappeared, but not quick enough, since I had horseback rides with guests and had to really bundle up.   The sun was our friend and it turned out to be quite an enjoyable ride and guests had a memorable experience.

From time to time we we hear from our guests once they’ve resumed their travels – something we always appreciate. Below is a letter we received from one of our recent guests, a Swedish lady who delved into the lifestyle of our Texas guest ranch with gusto.

I wish for you to have wonderful guests who appreciate the quality of the services you are giving, the breathtaking surroundings, your animals, activities, and the good food your chef is preparing!

Back in Sweden I have a friend who runs a tourist agency. One of the first things I will do in Sweden after Christmas is to put you in touch with each other.

The horse I rode, Dukey, has a very sensitive soul; he noticed every little change in my voice or movement. I’m grateful to him because he helped me to heel an issue from another time.

With your professional and empathetic instructions we managed to stay on the horses, and I enjoyed it very much (you heard me singing and laughing – I forgot for a while everything else around me).
