wedding venues in Texas Hill Country

When you plan a wedding, you want a venue that will photograph well. BlissWood is the absolute ideal setting for your outdoor wedding photography. We have a wonderful variety of locations and different types of scenery on our ranch. Here, brides can choose from intimate gardens, romantic vineyards, and lush meadows.

We have a long tradition of weddings here at BlissWood. The Enchanted Lake and gazebo were designed with a wedding in mind. We believe it was all built in preparation for the wedding of a previous owner’s daughter. And today, it’s one of our most popular wedding locations. Many couples choose to say their vows at the gazebo on the Enchanted Lake.

We also do weddings in our gardens and at our nearby tropical Oasis. There’s a lot that goes into planning a wedding, and there’s a lot to consider when choosing a venue. Our owner, Carol Davis, was recently featured in an online article about turning your property into a wedding venue. Check it out if you’re interested in all that goes into hosting a wedding!

And if you’re interested in having your wedding at BlissWood, give us a call today at 713-301-3235. We’d love to tell you more and make plans to show you around!

Lots of people come to our Texas Hill Country bed and breakfast for romantic weekend getaways in Texas – or with a little advance planning, to set the stage for a lifetime of love and happiness with one of our proposal packages at our Texas Hill Country Wedding Venue.

And then there are those who drive to the Hill Country for a romantic dinner at Carol’s, a favorite Cat Spring Restaurant – AND pop the question.

This couple got engaged recently at Carol’s Restaurant. They met on an online dating site for Christian singles in April and quickly fell in love, according to Blisswood owner Carol Davis.

He surprised her by suggesting dinner in the country, and then surprised her again with an engagement ring.

Carol’s Restaurant is the perfect place for those in the mood for love – and for a memorable meal. The restaurant’s interior is Texas country, with appointments in cedar and cowhide. Tables are topped with white linens and votive candles, giving the room a warm glow. The menu offers Texas favorites like steaks and chops, as well as sophisticated seafood and pasta offerings.

As for the couple who got engaged at Carol’s: He is a Harley rider and his fiancé is learning to share his enjoyment of motorcycle riding.

“Oh, what love makes you do,’’ says Blisswood’s Carol Davis.

The couple is considering having their wedding at Blisswood Bed and Breakfast.

With its multiple cabins and cottages, Blisswood Bed and Breakfast offers several accommodations in a relaxing oasis on a 650-acre working ranch in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. We offer several “proposal packages.’’

One, designed for guests staying with us, includes a picture-perfect setting — and much more: Couples enjoy a guided horseback ride to Enchanted Lake; chilled Champagne and souvenir glasses waiting in the Gazebo; chocolate-covered strawberries and fresh flowers. After she (or he) says yes, a golf cart will whisk you back to your lodging. Prices start at $239 per couple, plus the cost of accommodations.

Our proposal package for non-guests includes flowers; chocolate-covered strawberries; cheese and crackers; and Champagne with souvenir glasses. The fee is $199 per couple, and includes the use of the Gazebo at Enchanted Lake.

All you have to bring is the ring!

Celebrate your love with a wedding in Texas Hill Country

Monday, August 6th, 2012

We do a lot of weddings at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Inn.

Love is always in the air here; our secluded location encourages it. And each couple married by BlissWood owner Carol Davis – who wears many hats, including ordained minister – has a special story to share.

This couple had a small ceremony with family and friends in the Gazebo at Enchanted Lake.

In the course of making arrangements, Carol learned the couple had dated in high school, gone their separate ways and made families.

When they were both single again, they saw each other at a baseball field where their children were playing. They rekindled their romance, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The couple’s children played a prominent role in their wedding at BlissWood, and the ceremony was followed by a cake and punch reception at Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant.

Happy Couple Enjoys an Elopement Wedding at my Texas Bed and Breakfast

Friday, June 22nd, 2012

As an ordained minister, it was my honor and pleasure to recently marry another wonderful couple here at my Texas Lehmann Legacy Ranch.  Clinton and Aurora were guests at the Enchanted Cabin and chose to be married at the gazebo by Enchanted Lake.

From the bride:  “Thank you for all the attention you paid us as we decided to elope.  The Enchanted Cabin was wonderful and the wedding was more than we expected.  We will be back!”

There are so many choices for your perfect getaway wedding or elopement here at Blisswood bed and breakfast:

  • At Enchanted Lake, most ceremonies are performed in the gazebo.  We have had horse-drawn carriages bring the bride to our charming arched bridges, a groom and his groomsmen have arrived via rowboat across the lake, and one couple even departed via hot-air balloon from their lakeside wedding!
  • The gorgeous old trees make a perfect natural setting under which to take your vows.  Our Live Oaks branch out into umbrella-like canopies, shading and protecting your union and small reception.
  • The Garden Gazebo in our Formal Garden provides an intimate setting.  With lanterns hung in trees, fairy lights draped about, and one or two wedding tents, this gorgeous wedding site can easily transition right into your reception location.
  • Have an informal Oasis wedding.  The rock-wall waterfall, gorgeous greenery, blooming orchids and other flowers, and swimming pool provide the perfect backdrop to your small tropical wedding, and might provide a literal way to “take the plunge!”

Great Wedding Photography Ideas:

  • Plan your wedding when our Texas Bluebonnets are in season to take advantage of great photography opportunities.
  • Live Oaks provide a gorgeous place to recline with your new spouse, and provide a natural lace-sunlight effect.
  • Photos at the Oasis may make people think you actually went to the South Pacific for your wedding!
  • Our windmills and water tank are charming accessories for your ranch backdrop.
  • We have some SPECTACULAR sunrises and sunsets here at the ranch.  Sunrises are often accompanied by fog lifting from the ranch and wildlife out for the morning meal.  Sunsets provide amazing colors and lighting.
  • Many of our cabins and buildings have beautiful interiors, porch swings, and antiques for an Americana setting.

If you choose to elope, I am happy to marry you at any location here at my Hill Country Ranch.  Or you can plan your own ceremony, whether small or large, using your own choice for clergy and location.  I will be happy to help you pin down the details for your perfect day!

Weddings at the BlissWood Inn

The BlissWood Bed and Breakfast at Lehmann Ranch is known for its quiet, country charm.  Many people believe that this is the perfect environment for romance, and even weddings.  I am happy to report that our Texas bed and breakfast was recently witness to another wonderfully beautiful and romantic wedding ceremony!

A little bit of parental matchmaking magic started this couple on their way to a beautiful BlissWood wedding.  Having met the groom at church, the bride’s father decided to introduce his daughter to this charming fellow.  The couple fell in love, and became husband and wife at a very intimate Ranch ceremony with just two others in attendance.  For this couple, the serenity and ambiance provided at BlissWood was the perfect backdrop for their big day, and I am happy and honored to have been able to make their nuptials perfect.

You too can have the perfect wedding day at my Lehmann Legacy Ranch.  Whether it’s just the two of you, or if you’ve invited guests, the BlissWood can accommodate weddings of all sizes:  packages are available for intimate weddings up to 50 guests, or contact me to plan a larger event.    The 650-acre ranch offers a variety of wedding settings to make your day perfect.  Choose the Gazebo at Enchanted lake, celebrate under one of the gorgeous and sprawling old oak trees, choose to have a garden ceremony, let the waterfalls at the Oasis provide natural music during your vow-taking, choose your own perfect spot anywhere on the property during a daytrip visit.

While our newly-wedded couple did not become engaged here at BlissWood, many believe that the Ranch provides the perfect place to “pop the question.”  Treat your sweetheart to a BlissWood getaway to plan the perfect proposal.  Stroll the grounds and let the oaks witness the event, have a proposal picnic among the Blue Bonnets, or choose one of our Proposal Packages to set the scene perfectly.

Rehearsal dinners, bachelor and bachelorette party getaways, and receptions can also be accommodated right here on the property.  If you’ve chosen another wedding venue, you can come to Blisswood for a wide variety of off-site engagement and wedding photo settings.  Romance is welcome at BlissWood in any way we can help!  Check out the rest of the BlissWood website for more wedding and celebration ideas.

English Couple Travels to Texas for an Elopement

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Here at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast, visitors from all over the world stop by to enjoy a little Texas hospitality and to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of this 650-acre working ranch. But we’re always surprised at how many of our foreign guests come from the United Kingdom.

In fact, just this last August, a young couple from England stopped by the ranch for a Texas-style elopement ceremony in the Gazebo at Enchanted Lake. They weren’t looking for anything big, just a quiet, peaceful ceremony in the country that they could share with their one and only guest—the bride’s angelic little daughter, seen proudly displaying her mother’s bouquet in several of the pictures below.

The wedding party stayed in the Log Cabin, a quaint 1800s-style cedar cabin complete with a wood-burning fireplace and antiques from the 19th Century. See the Log Cabin in the video below.

After the ceremony, the newly weds drove off in true American fashion—kicking up a cloud of dust in a bright red Ford Mustang convertible, their little girl in the backseat with her mother’s bouquet of pink roses held high.

All of us at BlissWood would like to congratulate this young couple and wish them happiness and contentment in their lives together.

Here are a few pictures of the ceremony:

A Review from Happy Newlyweds

Impeccable service and the peaceful country surroundings combine to make your honeymoon truly unforgettable.

But don’t take our word for it. Check out this review posted by a happy newlywed couple at

“We could not wish for a more magical place to spend our honeymoon than Blisswood.

Innkeeper Carol Davis bent over backwards to make our stay very enjoyable. The rest of the staff was courteous and helpful but respected our privacy.

Reservations and all special packages were arranged online and could not have been easier, making this destination a wonderful surprise for my new bride.

Our stay included accommodations in the rustic and charming Log Cabin. Everything was beautiful and inviting from the heart shaped rose petals on the bed to the champagne and strawberries in the 1930’s style refrigerator waiting for my beloved and me.

The next morning met us with country cats lounging on the front porch and busy hens scratching about. A brisk morning bicycle ride was ever so refreshing and ended with a wonderful gourmet picnic lunch waiting for us at the back at the cabin.

There was just enough chill in the air for us to enjoy the rustic fire place and my bride and I appreciated the relaxing spa message I arranged for us later that day.

The next morning we enjoyed viewing the gorgeous grounds while horseback riding and later we wondered to our hearts content on golf carts that were available to rent.

All of the various dwellings have their own appeal and charm. One can tell that Carol lovingly puts her own personal touch into each on-site retreat. Truly a peaceful and relaxing get-a-way… and romantic destination. We were sad to see our time visiting come to an end but so contented with the precious memories we will keep with us always.”
