Horseback Riding at a Texas Guest Ranch

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Happy New Year. We look forward to another great year full of interesting guests from all around the globe, fun adventures, and weddings galore. Each year brings new people to our Guest Ranch in Cat Spring, Texas, and each year we look forward to the return of long-time guests and friends. The people we meet are truly the best part of what we do.

From time to time we we hear from our guests once they’ve resumed their travels – something we always appreciate. Below is a letter we received from one of our recent guests, a Swedish lady who delved into the lifestyle of our Texas guest ranch with gusto.

Dearest Carol,

Mikaela and Dukey

I wish for you to have wonderful guests who appreciate the quality of the services you are giving, the breathtaking surroundings, your animals, activities, and the good food your chef is preparing!

Back in Sweden I have a friend who runs a tourist agency. One of the first things I will do in Sweden after Christmas is to put you in touch with each other.

The horse I rode, Dukey, has a very sensitive soul; he noticed every little change in my voice or movement. I’m grateful to him because he helped me to heel an issue from another time.

With your professional and empathetic instructions we managed to stay on the horses, and I enjoyed it very much (you heard me singing and laughing – I forgot for a while everything else around me).

Have a great week. Loving thoughts from

Mikaela

Thanks for the letter Mikaela. We enjoyed having you stay at our Texas Vacation Ranch and especially had fun on the horseback ride. Come back when you can!

Central Texas Guest Ranch is a Gem

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Guests of our Central Texas Vacation ranch sometimes have the opportunity to watch cowboys and cowgirls at work. Below you can see our herd of purebred Angus being rounded up. This time we used a jeep and a golf cart; other times we use horses.

Our Houston area cabins are situated on a 600-acre ranch, meaning there is plenty of room to roam. Guests may watch us at work, participate in a morning feed tour, or simply relax on the porch in the shade.

Unique Texas Vacation Ranch

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Guests of our Houston Texas Vacation Ranch come here because we’re unique. We’re a working cattle ranch in beautiful Central Texas, with private cabins that sleep as few as two or as many as eight people. We’re situated on more than 600-acres with rolling grasslands, ancient live oak groves, and picturesque ponds. We’re an ideal location for weddings, corporate retreats, or girlfriend getaways, offering horseback riding, archery, and a host of other activities.

When next you visit our Texas Vacation Ranch near Houston, be sure to ask about our morning feeding tours. How often in your life will you find yourself face to face with a friendly, hungry kangaroo?

Thanksgiving Getaway in Cat Spring, Texas

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Still not sure what you’re doing for Thanksgiving this year? Why not grab a few of your favorite people and head to our Cat Spring Texas restaurant and guest ranch? Let us do the cooking and cleaning for you – you sit back and enjoy the meal and each others company.

Carol’s Cat Spring Restaurant is serving a Thanksgiving feast on November 25, 2010, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be Carol’s Rosemary Brined Oven Roasted Turkey and Whiskey Glazed Country Ham. We’re serving Traditional Stuffing and Chipotle Cornbread Dressing, as well as Fried Green Beans and Brussels Sprouts & Bacon. If you have room for dessert (and who doesn’t on Thanksgiving?) there will be many available.

Head home after the feast, or head to our Guest Ranch for a peaceful evening in the country. Stroll through ancient live oak trees and grassy fields. Sit by the pond or on the porch of your private cabin and watch the sun set. This is a wonderful place to reflect on the many reasons you have to be thankful.

Bring your friends and family to a Thanksgiving feast at Carol's.

Reservations are required for the Thanksgiving dinner at Carol’s. Please call 979-865-1100.
