A Completely Unique Corporate Retreat

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

A unique company deserves a unique corporate retreat, especially when they’re bringing together employees from all over the world. And that’s exactly what this international corporation got when they decided to host their gathering at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast.

Employees from Canada, Australia, France, and Houston journeyed to our 650-acre Cat Spring haven for three days of cooking, wine tasting, trapshooting, archery, tomahawk throwing, horseback riding, and more. And they did it all while competing on teams. Not a bad way to enjoy a corporate retreat.

Here are a few more pictures of their unique corporate retreat experience…

Truchard Wine Dinner

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Tony and Jo Ann Truchard have been growing grapes in the Carneros region of the Napa Valley since the mid 1970s. They’ve been making wine from those grapes since 1989. They consider themselves “a big vineyard and a small winery”, and their deep understanding and respect of the land, the weather, and the grapes is palpable.

Tony was raised in Texas, and he and Jo Ann are returning to attend the next Wine Dinner at our Cat Spring Texas restaurant, at 7 p.m. on November 16, 2010. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the wine industry from the inside, and to meet a delightful couple, as well.

During the evening we’ll pair delicious hors d’oeuvres with Truchard wines from the Carneros Region of Napa Valley. Expect a night of excellent company, delectable food, and extraordinary wine.

Autumn Wine Tasting in Texas Hill Country

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Our Texas vacation ranch in Cat Spring sits on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, an area with more than two dozen wineries. Autumn is the quintessential season for wine tasting; the fall harvest and the fresh scent of the fall crush makes us crave a taste of that magical fluid aging in oak. We find ourselves drawn to visit any winery we pass, eager to replenish wine cellars slowly emptied during the past year.

Enjoy a glass of Texas wine at our Houston area fine dining restaurant.

Plan to visit several Texas wineries during a relaxing weekend or mid-week holiday at our vacation ranch Houston area. It’s fun to hit the wine trail with no specific destination in mind. You may stumble across Rosemary’s Vineyard and Winery, in nearby La Grange, where you’ll sip a variety of wines in a tasting room surrounded by acres of Muscadine grape vines. (more…)

Fall Creek Vintner’s Dinner in Cat Spring

Monday, September 20th, 2010

On September 29, 2010, Carol’s Houston Area Fine Dining Restaurant will host the Fall Creek Vintner’s Dinner. Plan a mid-week getaway around this dinner now; take advantage of the Mid-week special at our Texas guest ranch and receive a discount on a stay of two or more nights.

Enjoy Award Winning Meritus at the Fall Creek Vintner's Dinner.

Fall Creek Winery is located in Tow, Texas. This Hill Country winery was created by Ed and Susan Auler in 1975, after the Aulers visited France and noticed a strong similarity between some French wine country and the Texas Hill Country in which they lived. Fall Creek has been producing award winning wines since 1982 – a testament to the accuracy of the Auler’s observation.

The Fall Creek Vintner’s Dinner starts at 7pm and costs $79 per person (excepting tax and gratuity). The menu features mouthwatering combinations paired with Fall Creek wines. Diners will feast on seared scallops and sip Sauvignon Blanc; they’ll dine on succulent roasted antelope paired with the award-winning Meritus. Five courses. Five wines. Heaven.

Compliment the meal with a stay at the adjacent Hill Country vacation ranch, located just a few miles from the restaurant. You won’t want to travel any farther than that after such a feast.

Texas Vintner’s Dinner

Stay at the ranch and enjoy a fall sunrise after the vinter's dinner.

Fall is simply the best time of year to celebrate wine with special events like a Vintner’s Dinner. Grapes are harvested, the smell of the crush fills the air, and wineries open their doors with special wine tasting events. In the spirit of all this fun, we have decided to host a Vintner’s Dinner at our Houston area guest ranch restaurant on November 10, 2009, at 7:00pm.

Truchard Winery is a small, family-owned winery in the the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Proprietors Tony and Jo Ann Truchard have worked hard for the past thirty years to successfully grow grapes, and we are all rewarded with wines of exceptional quality. Indeed, the Truchards helped pioneer grape growing in the Carneros region of California.

In 1989, the Truchards started producing wine made uniquely from grapes grown on their land. Even today, this practice is far too rare. The Truchards know about grapes, and make sure each grape that becomes an ingredient in their wine meets their high-quality standards.

Celebrate Truchard Winery with Tony and Jo Ann at the restaurant adjacent to our Texas guest ranch. Plan to stay the night in one of the many guest houses on the ranch, so you need not limit the amount of wine you taste. We will provide a six-course dinner specifically planned to highlight the Truchard wines we will be celebrating.
