Antique Week :: Houston Area B&B and Ranch

Texas Treasure Hunters, Prepare for Antique Week!

Do you love a bargain?  Are you willing to travel far and wide in search of unique gifts or decor?  If so, make plans now to visit rural Texas for Antique Weekend 2015. Actually spanning over one week, this event is the ultimate yard sale experience!

Starting the third weekend of March to the first weekend of April, 2015, more than 2,000 antiques, craft and art vendors from around the country will be setting up shop amidst various countryside Texan communities between Houston and Austin; to display their wares and negotiate deals.

Antique Shop

This popular weekend originally started in Round Top, and has spread throughout surrounding areas over the past forty years.  Now held twice annually, these special events draw thousands of like-minded buyers on the hunt for specific collectibles, or to take advantage of being able to visit several antique dealers in one location. Food vendors will also be on hand, and in some places, local fare is just steps away from the action. Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Savor the best chicken, steak, seafood and pasta dishes in the region.

The Biggest Spring Antiques Event in Texas

From charming crystal to light fixtures, antique cameras or typewriters, or even the proverbial kitchen sink, you’ll find just about everything under the sun at the Texas Antique Week in March and April. Folk art, antique furniture, quilts and even new things will be available, as well!  From priceless antiques to flea market finds, you will find priceless treasures at the antique fair.

Because they are coming from all over the United States, many dealers arrive days before the actual show to set up. Some will be open in the days leading up to the event.  While most of the shows are free, there are some that charge admission, and event hours can vary.  Be sure to check http://www.antiqueweekend.com/indexmain.html for the latest information before you go.

Before you travel, don’t forget to book a place to stay. Make it a mini-vacation by securing a spot at the Blisswood Bed and Breakfast Ranch in nearby Cat Spring.  Located at the Lehmann Legacy Ranch, our pet-friendly oasis is situated on a working ranch about forty minutes away from all the antiques shopping.  Once you score your bargains, you can leave the crowds behind and retreat to your cozy little cabin.

If you already have a place to hang your hat while you’re here, you can still enjoy a scrumptious meal at Carol’s at Cat Spring Restaurant.   We will be cooking up some special meals and barbecues for all of the antique enthusiasts. Call 979-865-1100 to make a reservation.
