We’re lucky to be part of a wonderful community here at BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch. As a working ranch in Cat Spring, Texas, we have a great appreciation for the land and all the creatures who reside here. That’s why we’re so happy to partner with the Friends of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge for the “Discover Your Prairie Neighbors” art contest!
Just 25 minutes from BlissWood, the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Refuge is one of the last remaining places to find the endangered prairie chicken. The Friends of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge does excellent work in the community, providing opportunities that call attention to the prairie and all the species that call it home. They do great things for the community – animals and people alike. Through outreach and education, they work hard to preserve and restore the beautiful coastal prairie for all of us and for future generations.
BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch is pleased to team up with the Friends of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge as a proud sponsor of the 2nd Annual Discover your Prairie Neighbors art contest. The contest is a fun opportunity for kids of all ages to learn more about the natural environment in Texas while also getting a chance to explore their creative side. The contest will be open through March 1st, 2014. Students at every level, from kindergarten to grade 12 in Brazos ISD, Columbus ISD, Rice CISD, and Sealy ISD, are encouraged to participate.
And if you’re looking for some inspiration, we’d love for parents and teachers to check out the lessons in the Kid Zone. Our hope is that your students will learn more about the prairie and its wildlife, which will, in turn, result in a greater appreciation for our environment and wildlife. We hope this art contest serves as inspiration to learn about the prairie and to have some fun with art!
