Texas is a great state with a rich history. Located in lovely Texas Hill Country, our ranch in Cat Spring is just one of the many charming stops you might make on a historic tour of Texas.
Take a look at Sealy, Texas, if you will. Formed as a railroad town in 1879, our neighbors in the nearby city of Sealy recently received a Texas Main Street Program Grant. The grant was presented by Anita Perry, wife of Texas Governor Rick Perry. Along with a friend, BlissWood owner Carol Davis had the privilege of presenting the Texas and US colors on horseback.

Sealy was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in the Texas Main Street Program. The goal of the TMSP is “to provide technical expertise, resources and support for Texas communities in the preservation and revitalization of historic downtowns and commercial neighborhood districts in accord with the National Main Street Four Point Approach® of organization, economic restructuring, design and promotion.”
Across the great state of Texas, there are 84 official Texas Main Street communities. The program works with towns and cities of every size, ranging in population from 2,000 to over 200,000. And all that work is paying off. Texas Main Street communities have seen significant reinvestment into their historic downtowns.
It’s extremely important to support and invest in the downtown areas of our Texas cities. Downtown revitalization is key when it comes to preserving the economic and social health of a community. A well-preserved historic downtown is part of any city’s charm. It’s also a valuable source of cultural heritage.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact the program will have on the beautiful city of Sealy, and we’re honored to have been a part of it! Next time you take a trip to BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch, be sure to stop by Sealy!
