Not so long ago, Chris Zwierzynski stayed at our Central Texas guest ranch. Chris writes for Tripbase.com, named “Top Travel Website for Destination Ideas” by Travel and Leisure magazine in November 2008. Chris passed his article on to us. Read on for his thoughts on “Getting Away from it All” in Texas.
“In today’s fast paced corporate world, for many of us there is just no time to get away from it all and escape the cities and towns that run our day to day lives. But if we think about it, there is no need to plan or make time for elaborate and lengthy holidays. This is especially true when for so many of us there is so much beauty and comfort to be enjoyed only a matter of hours away from the hectic life styles we lead in the city.
Take Houston for example. It is the largest city in the state of Texas but also the fourth largest city in the whole of the United States. With an economy that has a broad industrial base in the energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation industries and which is also a leading centre for building oilfield equipment, Houston is a major importance for the global economy. But how often do the people behind the success of these industries take a break from it all with a short staycation away from their hectic lifestyles?
Booking a B&B is a great way to get away from it all and enjoy a fantastic weekend away. B&Bs provide a comfortable and homely base to explore the surrounding area, and to also take advantage of the host’s extensive local knowledge. This means that you can make the most of your time away without having to worry about visiting a tourist centre. The BlissWood Texas bed and breakfast is a wonderful example of a perfect get away close to the city. It is situated an hour West of Houston in Cat Spring, and it is also within easy reach of Austin and San Antonio. If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful, romantic, quiet, and relaxing escape then this is definitely the place to be. Take the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings of this 650 acre working ranch and you will be rewarded with beautiful sights, sounds and smells from the meadows and gardens. For those who are a little bit more adventurous, there are numerous activities such as paddle boating or fishing in the Lake, taking a horseback ride from the main ranch, or quite simply doing nothing at all. Just enjoy the peace and quiet from one of the delightfully furnished guesthouses each with their own unique and enchanting settings.
So next time you feel that you really need a break, but time is of the essence, why not make life a little bit easier and do some research to discover the beautiful areas that are just outside your city. This way you can still enjoy some peace and tranquility – on your doorstep.”
Thanks for the kudos, Chris!
